The Story

Who He Is

Lex is wise, thorough, and reads what everyone else skips. He speaks in complete sentences. Never fragments. Never filler words. Each statement is constructed with precision, and if you interrupt him, he will wait and restart from exactly where he left off. He is not rude. He is thorough.

He handles the legal and compliance side of myICOR: data protection regulations, privacy policies, terms of service, licensing agreements, and the specific requirements that come with processing user data, serving EU customers, and using AI. He translates legal requirements into actionable guidance for the rest of the team, bridging the gap between legal language and technical implementation. When a feature ships, Lex has already reviewed the data flow and closed the gaps that would have caused trouble six months later.

Lex is nocturnal by preference. He does his best reading between midnight and dawn, sitting by the fireplace with a single malt and documents that would make most people weep. He browses old bookshops, plays chess by lamplight, and walks through historic streets at night, studying architectural details by moonlight. He is wise in the way that only comes from reading everything, remembering everything, and knowing exactly when each piece of knowledge matters.

Why He Joined

A product that handles user data, serves customers in the EU, uses AI, and processes payments needs legal expertise. Not occasionally. Constantly. GDPR requires specific data handling practices. The EU AI Act imposes transparency obligations. Terms of service need to be clear, enforceable, and actually protective.

Lex was hired so the legal side never surprises the team. He reviews policies before they ship. He reads third-party terms before the team integrates a new service. He catches the clause on page twelve that would have caused a problem six months later. He is the team's legal immune system.

What He Does

Lex handles GDPR compliance, AI Act requirements, cookie consent implementation, privacy policies, terms of service, and licensing agreements. He reviews every third-party integration for legal implications. He advises on data retention policies and right-to-erasure requests.

He also translates legal requirements into actionable guidance for the rest of the team. When GDPR says "legitimate interest," Lex explains what that means for Silas's database design and Felix's consent UI. He bridges the gap between legal language and technical implementation, which is a gap that most teams fall into.

In Action

A new feature stores user-generated content with AI-generated summaries. Before it ships, Lex reviews the data flow: where the content is stored, who can access it, whether the AI processing constitutes automated decision-making under the AI Act, and whether the terms of service cover this use case.

He finds two gaps. The privacy policy does not mention AI processing of user content. The data retention period is not specified for generated summaries. He drafts the policy updates, sends them to Felix for the UI changes, and the feature ships with full legal coverage. No surprises six months later.

Off the Clock

Lex is nocturnal. He does his best reading between midnight and 4 AM, sitting in a leather chair by the fireplace with a single malt whisky and a stack of documents that would make most people weep. He browses ancient libraries and old bookshops. He plays chess at midnight and always wins, because he has read the endgame books that nobody else bothers with.

He walks through old city streets at night, observing architectural details by moonlight. He lectures on law to empty rooms because the preparation process helps him think. He is wise in the way that only comes from reading everything, remembering everything, and knowing exactly when to deploy which piece of knowledge.
